Floriade Expo 2022, Almere, Netherlands

Floriade Expo is an International Horticultural Expo which is held in the Netherlands once every 10 years. Floriade Expo 2022 is the seventh International Horticultural Expo, this expo will be held for 6 months starting in the Spring of 2022 and take place in Almere, a planned city and municipality in the province of Flevoland, Netherlands. Floriade Expo 2022 promotes "Growing Green Cities" as its theme. The expo will provide unique perspectives in the Green City of the future and offer surprising attractions, innovative entries from all over the world, inspiring events, a unique collection of trees and plants, and much more.

Indonesia has participated in this event since 1992. Ever since the first participation, Indonesia has known as one of participant that has high-quality and unique cultural pavilions and gardens in Floriade Expo. So, for 2022 Floriade Expo invites Indonesia to participate again. They hope Indonesia can bring unique values to the Floriade Expo 2022 ​​and enliven the expo with its diverse culture.

Indonesia's participation for this expo in 2022 organized by PT Sembilan Komunikasi Globalindo (SKG), as for Indonesia's government represented by Maritime Sovereignty Coordination. As one of SKG's mission is to promote local business established by Indonesian young people, for the pavilion design this year SKG collaborated with young landscape architects represented by Lagom Landscape Design and young architects represented by Optra.

Signed letter of intent

In October 2019, Indonesia Team visit Floriade site and signed a letter of intent as confirmation that Indonesia will participate in Floriade Expo 2022. The Indonesia government is represented by Bapak Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Vice-Minister of Maritime Sovereignty Coordination. During this visit, Lagom also presented the Design Concept for Indonesia Pavilion. Indonesia will also host a series of cultural events and a National Day, in addition to building a pavilion.

Indonesia already sent an initial concept and rough idea for a brief and first impression for the Floriade team before we presented it in our visit in October 2019. After Lagom presented and give more explanation about the idea, we received positive feedback from Floriade Expo 2022 team. They are excited about the design progress and looking forward to how the design implementation will be in Indonesia Pavilion. The Floriade team thinks that the Indonesia Pavilion will give excitement to visitors.

The idea we offer is to not only bring a cultural and historical value like previous years but also make a mini Indonesia landform in the Indonesia Pavilion area. So visitors will have a glance at how Indonesia's landscape really is.

For the next step, Lagom will develop the design and work together with the Floriade team in terms of Almere Regulation to make sure we can build our design. Lagom Landscape Design will try our best to keep that value, so visitors can have a unique experience when visiting Indonesia's pavilion.
